PublicationDoes Economic Development Impact CO2 Emissions and Energy Efficiency Performance? Fresh Evidences From Europe( 2022)

The PCA of normalised factors is used to create three quantitative measures for financial intermediation dependent on the results of the study. When estimating the framework, we used the Hoechle method, which generates systematic deviation for linear panel styles that really are not homoskedasticity coherent and moreover resistant to broad types of cross-sectional dependency. We observe that earnings, resource utilization, industrialization, urbanisation, foreign direct investment, and the banking system all seem to have contributed to increased carbon dioxide emissions in the area. However, greater economic access appears to have resulted in a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. In terms of quality, the results are resilient to a variety of alternative proxies for financial inclusions as well as acceptable changes to the conceptual framework. According to the empirical findings, there are currently no regulatory interactions linking increasing economic development and reducing carbon dioxide emissions at the national level. As a result, economic growth should be incorporated into the implementation of sustainable green economy plans at the municipal, provincial, and city levels, particularly to counteract the documented detrimental impact of higher carbon dioxide emissions associated with increased financial inclusion. -
PublicationSynthesis, characterization and biological potential of silver nanoparticles using Enteromorpha prolifera algal extract( 2022)

The reaction mixture turns brown when AgNPs are formed in it. UV–VIS, FTIR, XRD, EDAX and DLS with Zeta potential techniques were used to characterize the green synthesized AgNPs. AgNPs exhibited an absorbance band at 448 nm in the UV–Vis spectrum. FTIR spectrum registered 11 intense peaks with distinct functional groups. AgNPs display an XRD pattern with 8 peaks, and the average grain size was 17.8 nm. FESEM analysis shows that AgNPs are polydispersed and spherical. EDX results revealed a strong signal peak at 3 keV due to silver presence. The Zeta potential of AgNPs was 30.88 mV, which indicates their stability. The growth of the seedling was positively affected by certain concentrations of AgNPs. In DPPH, the lowest "IC50" value against algae extract was 133.33 g/mL, compared to 142.0 g/mL for algal AgNPs. Increased AgNPs concentrations reduce the earthworms' death time in toxicology studies. -
PublicationFuzzy MCDM Model for Selection of Infectious Waste Management Contractors( 2022)

Medical waste generated from medical facilities includes medical activities and daily-life activities of patients and their family members. According to statistics of the Department of Health EnvironmentalManagement, Vietnam currently has more than 13,500 medical facilities, including hospitals from central to provincial and district levels and private hospitals and medical facilities. Preventive medicine generates about 590 tons of medical waste/day and is estimated to be about 800 tons/day. Medical waste includes ordinary medical waste and hazardous medical waste; in which ordinary medical waste accounts for about 80%–90%, only about 10%–20% is hazardous medical waste including infectious waste and non-infectious hazardous waste. This is an environmental and occupational health issue that needs attention in developing countries like Vietnam. Handling large amounts of medical waste to ensure environmental and personal hygiene, doing so inefficiently creates potential hazards to the environment and increases operating costs. However, hospitals lack objective criteria and methods to evaluate and select the most optimal infectious medical waste, relying instead on their own subjective assessment and prior experience. Therefore, the author proposed a fuzzy multicriteria decision making (MCDM) model including Fuzzy Analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) and the Weighted Aggregated Sum-Product Assessment (WASPAS) for infectious medical waste contractors’ selection in this research. The proposed FuzzyMCDMmethod is in-tended to provide a more efficient, accurate method in the selection of infectious medical waste contractors than subjective assessment methods, thus reduce potential risks to hospitals. The results of this study can be applied to evaluate and select contractors in other industries. -

Recently, Vietnam has experienced impressive growth in the solar and wind energy sectors, showing the high potential of using renewable electricity in addressing energy needs. The target of this study was to construct a fuzzy multicriteria decision-making, model including strengths-weaknesses-opportunities-challenges (SWOC) analysis, the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (F-AHP) model, and the weighted aggregates sum product assessment (WASPAS) model, to select the location of a solar power plant in south Vietnam. The proposed fuzzy multicriteria decision-making model (MCDM) model is the first solar power plant location selection in southern Vietnam that utilizes literature reviews and expert interviews. Moreover, this is the first study to provide a case study on evaluating locations during solar power plant location selection that utilizes a combination of the SWOC, FAHP, and WASPAS models. The findings of this study provide valuable knowledge for the assessment and selection of suitable locations for renewable energy projects, including both solar power energy projects and other renewable energy projects. -

In Vietnam, thanks to favorable weather, climate, terrain characteristics and many preferential support policies, there are many great opportunities in the field of solar energy exploitation and application. Location selection is an important problem in all renewable energy projects. Therefore, the author proposed a fuzzy Multi-criteria Decision-Making Model (MCDM)model for solar power plant location selection in this study, and as a result, location 5 is the optimal solution. The contribution of this study is to propose a MCDM for solar power plant location selection in Vietnam under fuzzy environmental conditions. -

PublicationOptimal Waste-to-Energy Strategy Assisted by Fuzzy MCDM Model for Sustainable Solid Waste Management( 2022)Nguyen Van ThanhIn Vietnam, rapid population and economic growth are responsible for the recent increase in solid waste. Energy production from waste is now becoming an effective solution around the world, especially in Vietnam, to solve environmental challenges while contributing to the country’s sustainable energy production. Waste-to-energy production has become a solution to the municipal solid waste problem, which is projected to increase by 10–16%. In this study, the author proposed a fuzzy MCDM model to assess and select a solid-waste-to-energy plant location in Vietnam. In the first stage, the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) technique is utilized to analyze the relative weight of the primary and secondary evaluation elements, and a combined compromise solution (CoCoSo) model is used to rank the candidates in the final stage. This is the first solid-waste-to-energy plant location evaluation and selection model used in a renewable energy project in Vietnam based on expert interviews and a literature review. This study’s contribution can be a significant guide in analyzing and selecting appropriate locations for solid-waste-to-energy projects, as well as for decision makers and investors in other renewable energy projects in Vietnam and throughout the world.

In addition to fuel consumption, the majority of which are fossil fuels, TGFs produce bottom and fly ash (BFA) that could be utilized. The objective of this study is to assess the production and management at source of the BFA to propose appropriate management solutions. Based on HEPZA’s database, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 179 enterprises. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The result revealed a total BFA production of 1,606.22 tons per month. At most enterprises, the bottom ash and fly ash were not separated. 33 companies involved in the collection, transportation, treatment, and recycling of BFA at 61 enterprises, showing a dispersed BFA handling system that may disadvantage the control of BFA pathways for reuse. This study proposed solutions to enhance BFA utilization via managing the BFA at source as well as the collection, transportation, treatment, and recycling facilities. -

When implementing a wind energy project, choosing a wind turbine supplier is an important decision and investors must find the optimal supplier through evaluating many qualitative and quantitative criteria that affect each other symmetrically. Therefore, the process used for selecting a wind turbine supplier in wind power projects is a multi-criteria decision-making process. Many approaches have been applied for this decision process, some of which are based on multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methods, whether applied individually or in combination with other MCDM models. In this study, the researchers proposed a decision-making model based on spherical fuzzy sets for wind turbine supplier selection in wind power energy projects. In this paper, Vietnam is used as a case study. The recommended turbine suppliers for installations can finally be generated after the calculations in the final stage of this research. The contribution of this research is developing a fuzzy MCDM model for suitable turbine suppliers in wind power energy projects. The results of this study can be used as references for experts in deciding on a suitable wind turbine supplier in other countries as well as in other renewable energy projects. -
PublicationSustainable Energy Source Selection for Industrial Complex in Vietnam: A Fuzzy MCDM Approach( 2022)Nguyen Van ThanhShifting from fossil energy to renewable energy is considered an inevitable trend to limit greenhouse gas emissions, protect the environment and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. In that trend, many companies globally, especially multinational corporations with great in uence have pioneered the use of clean energy. The fact that more and more companies are committing to renewable energy and taking speci c actions to accelerate the transition to clean energy sources is considered a good sign in the joint efforts of the whole world towards a greener future. In Vietnam, the use of renewable energy in production and business activities for sustainable development is also increasingly interested by businesses. Recently, many businesses are interested in taking advantage of renewable energy sources, aiming for environmentally friendly solutions to create products that meet green standards, increasing competitiveness in the market. However, the selection of a suitable energy resource for each industrial complex project is not a simple task as this involve multiple quantitative and qualitative criteria. In this research, the author proposed a fuzzy multicriteria decision making model (F-MCDM) for sustainable energy source selection for industrial complex in Vietnam, utilizing Spherical fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (SF-AHP) and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The main contribution of this study is to propose a Spherical fuzzy MCDM model to support planners and decision makers in the renewable energy resources evaluation and selection process of industrial complexes development projects in Vietnam. A case study is also performed to showcase the feasibility of the proposed approach

Hence, the present study examines the impact of corporate social responsibilities (CSR) in addressing the SDGs of manufacturing companies in Malaysia. The current article also examines the mediating impact of organizational effectiveness among the linkage of CSR and SDGs achievement. The researchers have used the survey method and taken the questionnaires for data collection. The current article has also applied the smart-PLS to analyze the data collected from selected respondents. The results indicated that CSRs have a positive linkage with the SDG’s achievement. The findings also exposed that organizational effectiveness significantly mediates among the linkage of CSR and SDGs achievement in manufacturing companies of Malaysia. The article has guided the policymakers regarding developing the regulations related to the SDG’s achievement through CSR and organizational effectiveness. -

So, the current research investigates the impact of investment on the environment, social, and governance (ESG) activities on the achievement of SDGs of the Chinese manufacturing companies. The current article also examines the mediating impact of organizational effectiveness among the nexus of investment in ESG activities and the achievement of SDGs of the Chinese manufacturing companies. The current research has taken the questionnaires to gather the data and used the smart-PLS to analyze the data. The results exposed that investment in the environment and social activities have a positive impact on the achievement of SDGs. The findings also revealed that the organizational effectiveness significantly mediates among the nexus of investment in the environment and social activities and the achievement of SDGs of the Chinese manufacturing companies. This study provides help to the relevant authorities to achieve the SDGs using the investment in ESG activities. -
PublicationInfluence of Green Investment, Environmental Tax and Sustainable Environment: Evidence from ASEAN Countries( 2022)Vu Minh HieuCurrently, sustainable environment has become a global requirement due to the uncertainty of the environmental conditions and require researchers' and policymakers' attention. Therefore, the present research examines the role of green investment and environmental taxes on the sustainable environment in ASEAN countries. The researchers have also used economic growth (EG) and population growth as the control variables. The present article has used secondary sources of data collection such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and world development indicators (WDI) and extracted secondary data from 1981 to 2020. The current research has applied the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test to examine the stationarity and applied the panel pooled mean group (PMG) model to test the association between the constructs. The results revealed that green investment and environmental taxes have a negative linkage with carbon (CO2) emission that shows a positive linkage with the sustainable environment in ASEAN countries. The results also exposed that EG and population growth have a positive linkage with CO2 emission that shows a negative linkage with the sustainable environment in ASEAN countries. The present article has provided the guidelines to the policymakers while establishing new regulations regarding sustainable environment through green investment and environmental taxes.
